HOW IT STARTED
In 1984 after returning to Australia, Lonnie was told by his peers and associates that historians did not take our original Australian Rock’n’Roll era seriously. They said some were not old enough to know or were even in Australia at the time, so only told their story from their own experiences. As Lonnie was an IT professional and website builder, he created a website he called rootsofaussierock.com, so the correct information could be available to anyone who wanted to know about that early era.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our hope is that this website will give a detailed insight to the original popular music scene in Australia to anyone who is interested. We eventually hope that we will have audio and video available of the artists as well as their own answers to the questions we gave them. This will be the definitive information hub for the early era 1956 to about 1964.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lonnie and his wife Suzanne gave his peers a series of many questions about their life and career and their answers have become the content of this site. This is exactly how they saw it. Some were given the questions in paper form whilst others were interviewed by phone or in person. Those were were interviewed live, will have their actual interview linked to their pages.
